“Eleições no Recife: João Campos lidera com 76% e pode vencer no 1º turno, aponta Datafolha”

Research Datafolha for the Recife Mayor’s Office released on Thursday (22) shows that incumbent candidate João Campos (PSB) leads with 76% of the voting intentions, positioning him to secure victory in the first round. In second place, there is a technical tie between Gilson Machado (PL) with 6%, Daniel Coelho (PSD) with 5%, and Dani Portela (PSOL) with 4%. Tecio Teles (Novo) garnered 1% of the intentions.

Candidates Ludmila (UP), Victor Assis (PCO), and Simone Fontana (PSTU) did not score in the survey. Furthermore, 5% of respondents stated they would vote blank, null, or for none of the candidates, while 2% said they were unsure whom to vote for.

The survey was conducted with 910 Recife voters, with a confidence level of 95%. João Campos also leads in the spontaneous survey, with 51% of voting intentions. Additionally, the current mayor’s administration is considered great or good by 70% of the respondents.

The opposition, represented by Daniel Coelho and Gilson Machado, seeks to reverse João Campos’ advantage with the start of electoral propaganda. The candidates’ strategies include focusing on areas such as health and housing, as well as criticisms of the current mayor.

Gilson Machado aims to win back Bolsonaro supporters and highlights the mayor’s alleged inconsistency as an ally of the PT, despite previous criticism of the party. João Campos, on the other hand, has been critical of the opposition, comparing them to seasonal events.

The research also revealed that 43% of voters show a high willingness to vote in the elections, while João Campos’ administration is rated as great or good by 70% of respondents. The possibility of the mayor’s candidacy for governor in 2026 is being considered by the PSB in the event of victory in the municipal elections.
